The second phase of HMR project was proposed to be built over 76.4 km across five corridors costing ₹24,269 crore under a joint venture proposed with the Central government,

The proposed two new metro lines (to Medchal and Shamirpet) were discussed by the MD along with the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) secretary M. Dana Kishore with the Chief Minister before the latter gave them to go ahead with the DPRs, as per an official release.

The Chief Minister informed about the demands from the citizens for extending to these two suburbs too and called for preparing the reports to extend the proposed Paradise-Medchal for 23 km and another one of 22 km from JBS to Shamirpet. HAML was asked to immediately start the work as part of phase 2 ‘B’ to sent to the Central Government for the necessary approvals.
